HOW TO MEASURE
If you live in the Calgary area, or will be visiting, I will happily conduct your fitting in person. If you live abroad, or can't make it in to see me, you can have a professional or a friend take your measurements. You can also take them yourself, however this option is more difficult.
General: Use a soft measuring tape. Make sure the tape runs parallel to the ground as you hold it around your body. Wear thin clothing, if any. Don't add extra inches to your measurements to accommodate desired fit, as ease is built into the garment.
Bust: Measure around the widest part of your chest (generally this is level with the nipple) with a natural breath, neither fully inhaling nor exhaling. Keep a bra on when measuring your bust if you normally wear one.
Waist: Measure around the smallest part of your waist (generally this is level with or slightly above your belly button). Flex your stomach muscles, but don't suck in.
Hip: Measure around the widest part of your hip (generally this is level with or just below your crotch). Hold the tape closed at the measurement and try to slip it up and down your hip area to be sure it is definitely the widest.
Shoulder: Measure from the large spine bump at the base of your neck, across your back to the edge of your shoulder.
Bicep: Measure around the widest part of your bicep, without flexing.
Sleeve Length: Allow your arm to slightly bend (as it does naturally) and measure from the edge of your shoulder, along your elbow, down to the outside wrist bone.
Waist Length: Measure from the dip in your collarbone at centre front down to the smallest part of your waist.
Hip Length: Measure from the dip in your collarbone at centre front down to the widest part of your hip.
If you are between sizes, I would suggest going with the size that matches your bust measurement, as the waist and hip are much easier areas to have tailored.
If you require a custom fit (shoulder and sleeve adjustments, combining sizes, etc.), please contact me directly and we will determine a solution based on your needs.
