Colour Analysis

When we become aware of our unique chromatic characteristics and wear colours that are harmonious with this palette, something special happens; complexion clears, features are more defined, and the skin glows; overall we see health and energy radiate. The effects are stunning.

This understanding also aids in the development of a cohesive wardrobe, accompanied by ease and clarity. It opens our options, translates into thoughtful choices, and encourages exploration and experimentation. It also allows us to navigate trends, wardrobe investments, and outfit pairings with confidence.

There are two phases to a colour analysis session at Anneke Forbes fashion studio, both conducted by analyst Lara Melin.

In the first, she performs a systematic draping of fabrics, carefully noting the interaction of light with facial features, particularly your complexion. Undertone, value, and contrast are considered and a specific colour palette that enhances your natural colouring is identified.

Lara uses sixteen seasonal categories to define your unique chromatic characteristics. She also imparts a deep understanding of what it is about that season’s palette that makes the colours work so well for you, empowering you to reference external resources of your choosing, be they tonal or seasonal.

Once the analysis is complete, Lara provides clients with advice on makeup and hair, and of course clothing choices. She can get as specific as patterns and fabric types, but the key takeaway is a physical colour palette that can be referenced while designing or purchasing pieces that you’ll reach for again and again.

Colour analysis sessions can be booked as a stand alone service, however, if it is part of a custom jacket purchase, your analysis findings will help guide fabric selections during the design process. See our full collection here and learn more about our slow fashion studio here.

Each colour analysis session is $200 and takes 1.5 hours.

Thursdays are the preferred date for sessions, however other days may be accommodated upon request.

All sessions are conducted at our studio in cSPACE Marda Loop, #220 - 1721 29th Avenue SW, Calgary Alberta, T2T 6T7.
